Before we get stuck into the lore, Loose Garms is an independent UK streetwear brand founded by three friends who met at university: Harry, Matteo and Jack. What began as a shared creative vision between friends has evolved into a fast-growing label that celebrates individuality, nostalgia and expression through design.
The Idea Behind Loose Garms
Let’s start with the name: Loose Garms. It’s a bit unusual, but to us it couldn’t be anything else. One of Matteo’s many nicknames is Loose Chop; a name born from a Christmas dinner when he asked Jack to “loosely chop” some vegetables, and it stuck. Meanwhile, one of Jack’s long-standing nicknames was J Garms, a play on his own name.
When the time came to choose a name for our brand, we realised that combining those two personal nicknames created something that just felt right. Loose Garms perfectly captures who we are: creative, laid back and focused on making clothes that feel as good as they look.
Where It All Began
For years, our dream was to create a DJ brand: to build something rooted in our shared love for music and culture. It didn’t quite make it beyond birthdays and the occasional session in Pirate Studios, but the spark was always there; to create, to collaborate and to share our vibe with others.
Fast forward a few years and Matteo and Jack had built up years of creative experience as graphic designers. Both were ready to channel that skill into something more personal; something that represented their shared love for streetwear, comfort and music.
In April 2025, the idea for Loose Garms finally took shape. Jack messaged Matteo suggesting they start a clothing brand: something they could wear themselves and be proud of. At almost the exact same time, Matteo was already talking to Harry, who brought serious business and operational knowhow from his experience working for big corporate and SME businesses.
That timing couldn’t have been more perfect; three friends with different strengths and one shared vision. And just like that, Loose Garms was born.
Bringing Loose Garms to Life
Our mission was clear from the start: to create comfortable, bold and eye-catching clothing for people who want to look good and feel good wearing it. We didn’t want to make clothes that cling to you like plastic; we wanted relaxed fits, clean designs and a style that represents confidence without trying too hard.
As three mates spread across the UK (Matteo in Norwich, Harry in Sheffield and Jack in London) we relied on countless video calls, messages and late-night brainstorming sessions to make things happen.
After months of planning, designing and testing, we had a range of original designs, solid suppliers and enough cash left for our first marketing push. Seeing our first samples in person made it all feel real: the start of something that had been years in the making.
What Loose Garms Represents
Loose Garms encapsulates everything that’s important to us: music, nostalgia and high-quality streetwear that both looks and feels great to wear. Every T-shirt has been created with care, using materials that last and fits that flatter; not cling.
We’ve worked tirelessly to make sure every product exceeds expectations, from the quality of the stitching to the feel of the fabric. It’s not just clothing; it’s our expression of what we love.
The Journey So Far
Building a brand from scratch has been a challenge, but one we’ve loved every step of the way. From figuring out logistics and suppliers to designing graphics that feel authentically us, every part of the journey has been a learning curve.
We’ve also discovered that building a streetwear brand is about more than selling clothes; it’s about building a community. We’ve already started connecting with creatives, industry contacts and musicians across the UK who share our passion for self-expression and authentic style.
What’s Next for Loose Garms
This is only the beginning. We’re already working on our next drops and planning collaborations that push our creativity even further. Expect bold designs, comfortable fits and plenty of personality in everything we release.
Loose Garms isn’t just a brand; it’s a movement, built by three mates who wanted to create something meaningful and fun. We can’t wait to see our designs out in the world, worn by people who get what we’re about.
